What is the typical rate real estate agents charge for selling a home in Florida?

about 30 years ago the Federal trade commission came down and sued some Realtor organizations for possibly having a “standard” commission. Now there are flat rate companies and people that sell based on a percentage and agents that want to paid up front.

I think paying someone a percentage of the sales price when they are successful and nothing until they succeed is very good motivation- you end up having to pay somewhere between 1.5% and 4 % for the listing side and 2.5% and 4 % for the buyer side- the seller usually pays both sides- so that would be between 4% and 8% at closing. The lower you pay the less the motivation there is for the agent to work.
