Home Builders In Jacksonville Fl

I am considering having a home built and financed by Ryland. Are there any opinions about the builder?

Anyone find any heads-up negative or positives about living in this community. It is in Doctors Inlet Reserve in Jacksonville, Fl.

I live in a Ryland home in Houston. It was orgininally financed by them but they sold the mortgage to someone else less than a year later.

I had some problems with the house, and of course mistakes are to be expected (carpet laid wrong and had to be completely redone, a couple windows improperly installed, some ceiling and tile cracking) and they corrected most in a reasonable time but one thing was an ongoing argument – the drainage in the back yard. The property wasn’t graded correctly and any kind of substantial rain resulted in a pond that would linger for days. They insisted they’d done it properly. It took a couple months and we finally had to threaten to sue before they came out to correct it.

Do yourself a favor, no matter who your builder is – get an independent professional inspector to go over it before you close. I know money is tight when you’re buying a house but it really will be a few hundred dollars well spent.
